What can you tell me about Syracuse and Syracuse Uni?
I'm thinking of applying there next year. What are the pros and cons of living/studying there? Is Syracuse a big city? Can you walk to places? I'm doing Accountancy if that helps.

- I live in Syracuse. Syracuse is not a big city. It has only around 130,000 people living in it, and it is going lower everyday. Pros: -The University is adjacent to Downtown, which has everything you'll need. You can so walk to Downtown. -Even if you need to go on the other side of the city or somewhere farther, there are Centro buses ($1.25 per adult per ride) will be available for you. -The University is #58 on the best US Universities, according to the US News and Report. -Has a good sports program. Basketball and lacrosse is the best. Football is not very well, but improving. They are hiring better people to overlook and train the football team. Other sports programs not associated with the University included the Syracuse Chiefs (baseball), Syrcuse Crunch (ice hockey) -If you like shopping, there is a lot of small stores, but the best is that there is Carousel Mall, Shoppingtown Mall, and Great Northern Mall in the city or somewhat near the city. The all have movie theatres that show the lastest Hollywood films. They don't show old movies. -The NY State Fair is located in the city. It is held at the end of August. -Everyone knows Syracuse in Upstate NY. For Central NY, Syracuse is the best. Cons: -The city is really cold, and snows a lot. This can be a pro, but sometimes the University cancels classes due to too much snow. -Through Syracuse is becoming safer, it is still not safe. You can walk around campus anytime you want, but in some nearby neighborhoods, it is very dangerous. Downtown is empty during sleep hours, so roam all you want. -Onondaga Lake is a one of the most polluted lakes in the US. Tons of people play and walk near the lake, but no one wants to swim in it. The smell can be horrible at times. -Sometimes, if you refuse to spend money, you can feel like there's nothing to do in Syracuse. But if you spend money just for a bus ride, you can do a lot. Others: -Syracuse has its own Symphony Orchestra, which plays in Downtown. -Everson Museum of Art, Erie Canal Museum, and the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (MOST) is one of the few musuems in Downtown. If you want to watch any new IMAX movie, you got to the MOST. -Thornden Park will be right next to where you're going to school. It's the second largest park in Syracuse, after Burnet Park, which is right near the zoo. But in Burnet Park, you have to pay to get in. Most of the parks in Syracuse will have swimming pools, tennis courts, ponds, small rivers, playgrounds, etc.
