How far from Syracuse University do I have to live to be in the country?

I'm from Vermont, and I am thinking of going to graduate school at syracuse U. How far away, and in what town(s) should I live to get decent biking and running? Any suggestions for living areas? I'm a triathlete and really need at least 50 miles of runable and rideable roads that I won't get run-over on.

1. i thought syracuse was in the country. you should check google satalitte maps. i bet you walk off campus and you in be in the woods in no time.
2. Not too far for the country - maybe Lafayette (15 miles out), but you'd be better off in the Village of Liverpool, where you can access Onondaga Lake Park, with long trails, to avoid the danger of dark country highways (especially in Winter, when the shoulders are full of snow).
