How do we get insurance companies to reduce medical insurance premiums to employers? Let's face it, here in the U.S. the medical insurance premiums for group health coverage is rising faster than inflation. As a result, a lot of companies are either reducing the levels of coverage in order to offset the cost of insurance, increasing the deductible, and or increasing the cost to the employees for the insurance premiums. The problem is that insurance companies have no incentive to reduce insurance premiums. They continue to get record profits and this issue is out of control. How do we get the insurance companies to decrease insurance premiums to the rate of inflation, or better yet, start reducing the cost of premiums for a change?

How long is a insurance company required to give before they cancel your insurance? My insurance called me yesterday and informed me that they would be cancelling my insurance because I have rented my house to a group of students. They gave me two weeks to find new insurance before they cut me off. I'm having trouble finding someone who will insure us. If they cut my insurance, my bank will cancel my mortgage, and I guess that means I'd lose the house. Is this insurance company allowed to drop me in this manner. When we got the insurance two months ago there was nobody living in the house, but it was rental insurance. We never lied or anything, we were completely honest through the whole process.
What types of insurance does an event planner need? I am interested in starting my own business from home as an event planner (no employees, just me). However, I am unsure about the insurance aspect of things. I will possibly be organising events for a large company and they have told me that I am required to take out Public & Products Liability insurance and Personal Accident cover before I can start working on any of their events. Will the Personal Accident insurance cover my hospital bills if I injure myself? If not, what insurance does? Could you please advise what type of insurance is required for a home-based event planner. If there are any event planners out there could you please let me know what insurance you have?? Thanks!
How can people say insurance companies should be able to deny based on pre-existing conditions? Let's look at an example. Bob has a job. He has health insurance. He gets cancer, and his insurance company pays for his tens of thousands of dollars worth of treatments. The economy goes south, Bob gets laid off. He has to choose between health insurance and losing his house, so he obviously needs to stop the insurance. Later, Bob gets re-hired, and despite the fact that he can afford insurance, he can never get it again, because he has a pre-existing condition. But no, we need LESS government regulation of the insurance industry. LOL!
How does the insurance company find out about moving violations? My understanding is that when you get a moving violation (e.g, a speeding ticket), the police or the courts or whoever will notify your insurance company. When your insurance company finds out and finds out about the points that are now on your license, they raise your insurance premium. However, a friend tells me that he's received several speeding tickets, that his insurance company has never found out (meaning no one is notifying his insurance company), and that his premium has therefore never gone up. How is that possible?

I need to know the average malpractice insurance for neurosurgeons in different states.I want to practice in a state where the insurance isn't so expensive.I live in NYC and here, the insurance is almost $100000.I prefer going to another city than giving all that money for the insurance.I never had any problem in my career and I don't need this type of insurance. Will an insurance company insure our home if there is a unpermitted cottage? I'm in the process of buying a foreclosure home (Saratoga,CA, can't transfer the insurance since it has already lapsed) that has a detached unpermitted cottage (2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and living room total of 900 sq ft), the main home also has a unpermitted converted garage that is used as a in law quarter (separate entrance and full bathroom), it also has a unpermitted sun room too. I really love the home and tried looking for home insurance but it looks like no one will insure me. Is there anyway I can get insured for this property without having to lie about these unpermitted additions to the insurance company? Any advice would be appreciated and any suggestions which insurance company would insure me for a reasonable price. Thank you in advance.

What insurance is needed for casual outside workers? We live on acreage in Brisbane and need quite a lot of outside work done. Things like brushcutting, weed spraying, gardening, scrub clearing etc We would supply tools and materials etc so the job would suit an unemployed person or a student. What if they are hurt in some way while doing the work? Do we need to take out insurance for them? If so, what type of insurance is it and who should we get it from? I'm pretty sure that normal workers compensation insurance doesn't apply to workers who are employed by householders.
What typically happens to the insurance industry during a period of economic recession? Are people more afraid and purchase more insurance or less? Does it make them delay purchasing insurance? Life and Health insurance specifically. More specifically senior medical supplement policies, advantage plans, life insurance, long term care insurance, and annuities. I'm asking for myself. Is it a good time economically in the U.S. today to sell these products? General or specific information will be helpful. Thank you for your experience and thoughts.

Does comprehensive car insurance cover others not on the policy? My Brother has a full comprehensive UK car insurance. Can I drive his car and be covered by the insurance even though I am not listed on the insurance and live at the same address. I have a full UK license, he claims I am covered because he gives me the permission to drive the car which according to him is right. I have read the insurance policy but my brains are not big enough to understand that "given permission" part. If anyone can throw more light on this, it will be fully appreciated.
What happens to my insurance after i got a speeding ticket? I got a speeding ticket for the first time ever. The cop put me down as 80+ mph, which i needed to go 70mph. When my insurance bill comes in, would my insurance be higher? Also my insurance is AAA. I still haven't gotten my actual ticket in the mail yet, and i was wondering if my insurance bill would be any higher until I'm proven guilty, because i know that if i can take traffic school, it won't get any higher & the point taken off. But i was wondering until then, would it still get higher?
Where can you buy insurance for connecting to the power grid with a wind generator in Texas? I have a friend who would like to install a wind generator for electricity, but the local power company will not let him connect to the power grid unless he can show that he has a million dollars insurance. Well, he cannot find any company that offers that type of insurance for any price. He has written to everyone he can think of but still no source of insurance. The reason he wants to connect to the power grid is to use it as his storage system so that he doesn't have to maintain a whole bank of storage batterys. Does anyone know where he can get this type of insurance for a system that will be in the state of Texas?
Can you buy auto insurance the very moment you buy a car? Do insurance companies work that quickly? Can I call an insurance company the instant I buy a car and say, "Hey, I just bought a car. I want to get insurance for it."? I think companies should do this because if I take off from the dealership without insurance, and somebody hits me on the way home, I'm in trouble, right? I looked everywhere for this information, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Could somebody clarify this issue for me?
How much insurance company will raise my rate after a car accident? My car bumped into a car at a parking lot and caused minor rear bump crack. And I called my insurance company to report a claim. Right now my rate insurance is $420/year. I would like to to know how much my insurance company will raise my rate when I renew it next year.
How does rental car insurance offered by credit card companies (when you use the card) work? I have credit cards which say they cover me for rental car insurance when I use the card to make the full payment for the rental. How does that work? Are there any catches? Does it make sense for me to get the additional insurance from the rental agency (like Avis)? If I am in an accident, will the Credit Card insurance cover everything or will it also be charged to my regular car insurance company?
How do i fight with an insurance company and win? I had surgery in June and my insurance has no deductible. The insurance company paid the doctor and the pathologist, but they wont pay the hospital. the insurance company says they havent gotten a bill. the hospital says they have sent it and received a denial with no explanation from the insurance company. I dont know what to do. I've asked for the hospital to send me the bill to submit myself, but they dont do it. They say they do, but I never get it. I'm so frustrated. What can I do??? The hospital has an out-of-state company do their billing or I would go there in person. My insurance company is also out of state. *sigh* help.. i have no deductible, there is no reason why they wouldnt pay, they've paid everything else I just think the hospital is messing up. any suggestions?? thanks!
How long can you wait to notify a insurance company about a potential claim? How long can you wait to notify a insurance company about a potential claim? You know how an insurance tell there clients that they have to report a claim(personal injury/premise liablity) or something. Most insurance policies have a requirement that your notify the insurance company of any potential claim within a very short period of time after the incident occurs. I live in NY. How long can you wait to tell them? How much would that short period of time be? Landlord have been recieving letters frommy lawyer and he havent sent them over to his insurance company. This been going on since May 1st of this year. Can the insurance deny him coverage?
Can I get home contents insurance if my landlady works from home? My landlady teaches piano from home as a full time job, would I be able to get contents insurance? I went to an online insurance site and it said I would have to call them if I share my home with renters/lodgers (which I do) and also it assumes that 'You do not use your home for any business purposes or for the storage of business goods'. What insurance would I need or would it be my landlady's responsibility to get cover? Could I be included in her insurance?
Where do car insurance companies get your driving record in CA? I hit a guys bumper while driving a company car a couple of years ago and I thought he filed a claim but the company took care of it and I never heard about it again. I'm getting car insurance and I pulled my driving record from the DMV and all I have is a seatbelt violation but no accidents. Is there another database somewhere that insurance companies will check or is it just your DMV record? Maybe this all got settled without insurance intervention and I dont' want to pay higher fees if its not necessary. Am I in the clear?
How would health insurance businesses be able to stay viable if the Senate bill is passed? As I understand it, the bill forces all Americans to have health insurance. However, I think that the fine for having no health insurance is around $750. But after the year 2014, health insurance companies will not be able to turn customers away for preexisting conditions. Why wouldnt someone pay the fine or buy low end coverage until they got ill and supplement the coverage or buy an extensive plan?
Did insurance companies just start denying claims of sick people? If not why didn't the great House or Senate members address this before now. Sick people don't need to be burdened with extra problems. Even paying sick people. Wonder if it's as long as the insurance companies been selling life and auto insurance across state lines.

How exactly does insurance affect our economy? I understand the basics of insurance. That is the transfer of risk. That insurance companies bet on getting more in premiums than they have to pay out in claims. What I'm trying to understand is, how deeply insurance, our ability to purchase it, affects our economy. Please if you could give me some answers regarding this or point me to a site where I can find more information it would be great.
Why is home insurance limited to each and every different type of disaster? The home is either livable or NOT livable...it matters NOT what disaster ruined the home.. Why then is it that you have to pay extra for each different type of circumstance? An accident is an accident.... a disaster is a disaster... the home can only be burned, flooded, distroyed by earthquake / tornado / hurricaine ONCE.. why pay for all the different ways insurance-wise? How covered is covered? And WHY !!!! Why?? Is it if you Never have any type of claim you aren't refunded some of that money you spend year after year after year? Again, once you've paid in insurance the amount of the home value.. what difference does it make if you replaced the home 'money-wise' already in insurance premiums? Why not spend those premiums on a second home instead? Just shooting in the dark here of the many complaints I have heard ranted from my elders recently.. their solutions were hysterical.. I'd love to hear more solutions.
How does business insurance work in a lawsuit? As a small business, I'm finally getting around to looking at business insurance. God forbid I should get sued, but that would be the only reason I would get insurance at this point. If I get sued (assuming I did nothing wrong that would terminate coverage), what are my responsibilities with regard to paying legal fees? What role will the insurance company play or what control will they have in the litigation process?
What is the least amount of car insurance I need to have on a car that doesn't have a loan on it? I live in Wisconsin and havent had insurance in about four years. I am getting married in six months and my fiance's insurance agent said that I should get insurance now, six months before the wedding, so that once we get married and I get added onto his insurance, I won't raise his insurance since I am considered high risk since I havent had insurance the last six months or more. So, if I get insurance on my won for six months, it will be high risk for those six months, but then six montsh from now, I won't be high risk, which will be good becasue six months from now is when i would get married and added onto his insurance. Now, I am going to get insurance on a car that doesn't have a loan on it, and I am wondering how much insurance I need? What is the least amount of insurance I could get on my car, so that in six months I won't be high risk anymore? P.S. I live in Wisconsin, where it isn't illegal if you don't have insurance on your car.

How does health insurance work in the US? I am a non-US citizen and need this information to do a case. Specifically: 1) Is health insurance compulsory for everyone? 2) What happens if someone cannot afford it? 3) In the event that a medical procedure needs to be done, does health insurance cover all the bills? Does the patient need to pay anything extra? 4) Does the patient have any say over what kind of procedure he can take? Say if 2 treatments are available for his condition, can the patient choose the more expensive treatment? And if so, is it covered by the insurance? Thanks for reading this. Your help in answering any part of the questions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to those who have responded so far. I would like to further ask: Does a health insurance contract state that it will only cover the "normal" rates for a procedure? For eg. if there are 2 possible treatments for a disease, 1 of which is more expensive but more effective than the other, will the patient only be covered by the LESS expensive one? Or is it a case in which the patient can opt for the more expensive one and "top-up" the difference? This is a crucial question to my understanding the case. Thanks!

Who pays for the home insurance when you let your house? I ask this question on behalf of my friend, who lives in Malaysia. He wants to know what the law in England will be in this case. My friend is gonna let his house to another, so that he can have some income. A question arises: They need to buy a home insurance in case there is an accident like fire. Apparently in Malaysia, a homeowner doesn't have to buy insurance for his house. So in this case, who should pay for the home insurance, the homeowner or the tenant? I mean, the rental period is 2 years, and the insurance, if paid, will cover for 2 years only.
Can I reimburse myself health insurance costs from my company? We used to have individual health insurance, and I would pay for it out of my own company (an S Corp). When we got insurance through my husband's employer, I stopped reimbursing myself. He is paid for by the company, and then it costs extra to add myself and our child. I was just going to deduct health insurance premiums on our Sch A, but we don't have enough other medical expenses to meet the limit. Is it ligit to go ahead and reimburse myself the amount that it cost for the health insurance? Then it would be a business expense. Thanks.
Is Motorcycle insurance the same price as car insurance or is it cheaper? I had a coupld of friends that have motorcycles and some that have cars. They don't pay for their own insurance but i wanted to know if by any chance if motorcycle insurance is cheaper then auto insurance. I know auto insurance these days are sky high. But since a motorcycle is a lot smaller, shouldn't insurance for it be cheaper for it?

Personal and public liability insurance - Is it possible to get a combined policy? I'm about to set up a small sole trader business in the UK making furniture and I am going to be moving into a small industrial unit which I will be renting. I have been advised by the people who are renting out the unit that I need to get personal and public liability insurance. I have done a few searches on the internet but I can't see any companies that have a combined policy. In other words it seems I have to get two seperate insurance policies for personal and public insurance. Is this right? Or is it the case that public liability also includes personal liability.
What is the best insurance company for my situation? I am 19, never had a driver's license or permit. I don't own a car, and the DMV says that I must have car insurance before I can get a driver's license. I live in NC and I am clueless. The insurance companies keep saying that I need to have a car, but I can't buy a car without a drivers' license and insurance. What to do?
How long does it take an insurance company to issue an automobile insurance policy after receiving deposit? I've been with the same company almost five years. My car insurance is renewed every six months, after I make the required renewal deposit. Like clockwork, I receive the new payment coupons, and temporary insurance card. However, I don't get the permanent insurance card and new policy stating the value of my vehicle, until almost a month later. Sometimes longer. Is this legal? If so, why does it take so long for the agent to issue the new policy, and how will this effect me if I ever disagree with what's in the policy? P.S. I'm not referring to how soon the new insurance is "effective", I'm referring to how soon the new policy is "received". To my knowledge, the policy is renewed immediately for six months after I make the deposit, even though I don't have the new policy, and just the "temporary" insurance card. There has to be some type of law that gives insurance companies a certain amount of time to send out the new policy. If anyone knows please post.
How do I get an insurance rider with no homeowner's insurance? I do not own a home and am hoping to host a wedding reception at a local public library. They will not rent to me unless I have insurance coverage under homeowner's. Well, I don't own a home so I do not have homeowner's insurance. The only type of insurance I have is auto insurance. Is there a way I can still get the type of insurance I need? How much will it cost?
How does car insurance work when driving somebody else's car? I have my own car and insurance company. My girlfriend has her own car and insurance company. Can I drive her car? What would happen if I got into an accident? How much would it cost to be insured with her car? How would that work with 2 different insurance companies? THANK YOU!
Whats the difference between home insurance and rental insurance? for my rental property? Where i can compare home insures? Thanks!
